Free Trial Offers Are NEVER Free
ByI just finished a 3 hour study of several leading free trial offers.
Here is what I found:
-
Top-notch Professional graphics
-
Hot topic emotional buttons: weight loss, dating, sex, health
-
FREE TRIAL OFFERS that are not free by any means.
-
Multiple parts have to be cancelled (laden with strings attached)
99% of people are not able or willing to read every word on a page. Generally we scan web pages, looking for keywords.
If you did read the entire offer, you would not be so eager to accept that “Free Trial Offer”.
If you do read every word, you will find that the one month supply you are receiving only has a 14 free trial.
IF you do not get that free trial returned within the 14 days of receiving it, then you are charged the full amount which is not disclosed except in the fine print or on the terms and conditions page, a completely different page usually labelled in a light grey font that we just accept as the same old, same old.
Usually the amount charged is between $78 - $88.
I also found that while accepting the free offer, this style of markeing usually leads you into accepting free trial memberships in ancillary clubs.
One offer was selling an $88 product as a free trial with a discounted shipping price of $4.95 (the second month, the shipping charge is $6.95)
By accepting the Free Trial weight loss product, you are also accepting membership in an Ebook club and an online fitness club for $4.95 and $9.95 respectively.
Now you have three offers to cancel. If you are successful in cancelling the main product, there are other phone numbers to call to get through to cancel the ancillary memberships. How many people cancel the main offer and forget or don’t have access to the phone numbers to cancel the others?
Statistics show it takes about 4 months to get these kinds of offers cancelled on average.
Of course this comes as a surprise to most people who thought they were getting a free offer. You won’t find this out until your credit card statement comes and by then it’s too late to get a refund because you didn’t meet the terms and conditions you agreed to.
Generally, these Free Trial Offer companies do not handle their own customer service. It’s outsourced to India or the Philippines for a fraction of the charge they just made on the unsuspecting card member’s charge card.
This is win - lose style of business. One winner, many losers.
I do not think its ethical and I cannot participate in this style of marketing.
What I do is sell HIGH QUALITY products at the best possible discount I can make and still turn a small profit so we will be here the next time you need a quality product to meet your health needs. A completely different style of business altogether.
Here is an example of one of my ads. This is a straight forward message for a great price on a terrific product.
