rd2002

This article appeared in Reader’s Digest in the August issue of 2002. Oh, I want to tell you how I found this article. (See end of post.)

It chronicles the story of Allan Levy whose father died at age 59 from a heart attack. My own dad had his first heart attack at age 48 and his second at age 55.

It mentions Pattern B trait of LDL, which simply means the LDL are small and dense. It’s better for you if they are big and fluffy. They won’t stick to the artery walls as easily. I never heard about this from my doctor and only heard it from my natural alternative health advisors at the Your Prescription for Health.

Here’s the treatment for Pattern B - eat a diet low in saturated fat, exercise and take regular doses of B Vitamin Niacin. (Res-Q HDL+ -Niacin- the most inexpensive product on the shelf.) Also check out Res-Q’s LDL-X2 with Niacin. It’s a PhytoSterol complex along with Niacin.

Another villain written about in the article is inflammation, which doctors are only now starting to pay attention to.

You know the cholesterol theory of heart disease has a lot of missing pieces to the puzzle and statins are toxic to your liver.  I was never happy with the idea, I have destroy my liver to save my heart.

In fact, I later learned that statins reduce the production of Co-Enzyme Q10 which is needed for muscle energy. So statins can’t really prevent heart attacks and actually may do damage to the effort of becoming heart healthy by robbing you of CoQ10. (Fortunately for you and me, the Japanese have invented a reduced form of CoQ10 called Ubiquinol that will remedy the ill effects of lower CoQ10.

The cool thing about living in the 21st century is that I can google the author, Susan Freinkel, to find out that she is an accomplished author and lives in San Francisco. I just sent her an email hoping I can reprint the 2002 article for you. We’ll see.

So what cures inflammation, you may wonder? Omega-3 fish oil and the premium brands work best. By far, the best deal out there is Res-Q 1250 an approximate equivalent in strength to Lovanza which cost $160 a bottle unless your insurance covers it.

I just got my lipid profile back. My HDL is low and could use a boost of Niacin. Thankfully, I have a well stocked warehouse!

So how did I come across this informative article from 2002? While I was in WVa on Memorial Weekend, while staying at the Harrisville Inn, I found reading material in the rooms, a bit dated of course. Anything that screams heart attack on the cover will get my attention.  Most of the points in this article are still not in the mainstream and I am convinced it takes at least a decade or more for news to travel through the medical community.

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about my new website for Heart Health….!!!….
