I didn’t elaborate how my Mom came to be in Russia at the war’s end. She and her family were taken from Vienna during the “Anschluss” in 1939. There are too many details, all of which are really interesting, to put into a blog post.

Brenda, Much to my dismay my Dad sold the old Garey holler to another family from Parkersburg back in the 70s after my Great Grand Parents moved down to Maryland so they would have medical facilities in their 80s. The house is used as a hunting lodge and not lived in year round. Looks like there is indoor plumbing now too. The new owners also graded the dirt roads. So improvements have been made. I am searching for old photos of the place when I was young. I want to compare!
