Understanding the difference between LDL-X, LDL-X2 and Red Rice Yeast:

A.L. writes in: Thank You, we love your products, but we are a bit confused about the LDL-X and the LDL-X2, we seem to have had better results with the RED YEAST RICE, but I hear that the LDL-X2 is the better and safer product to use. Please clear up these issues for us.

OptimalHealthRSQ.com: Red Rice Yeast is a natural "statin" like herb in use in China for thousands of years. It will block cholesterol production in the liver and therefore is very quick to work and very effective but not necessarily the best way to deal with cholesterol. It is safer in our opinion than pharmaceutical statins in that it is natural and not synthetically produced. There are many other side effects from the pharmaceutical statins that don't exist with red rice yeast. Pharmaceutical companies view it another way. They feel statins are safer than a "food-grade" supplement. Their argument is that red rice yeast is a food product yet acts like a drug and therefore should be given with a prescription and that the controls may not be as stringent for food as for drugs. We agree that consultation with a medical advisor is important when using red rice yeast.
